HUG – Help Uganda Grow

Help Uganda Grow (Friends of the Ugandan Child) seeks to improve the quality of life in Kamengo, Uganda, in a manner that builds sustainability and encourages self-reliance. Under the umbrella of the Canadian Africa Community Health Alliance (CACHA) and working in partnership with Care for Your Life (CFYL), a community-based organization in Kamengo, they are committed to developing long-term solutions to a variety of health concerns with particular emphasis on child development and prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission. The project uses recreational and training as a means to enable Kamengo youth to disseminate healthcare and HIV/AIDS information.

HUG works with local leaders and youth to ensure effective, locally owned development programs that are sustainable, transparent, and accountable. The key objective is to strengthen the capacity of orphans and vulnerable children to manage challenges they face and to improve their economic status. The project also aims to strengthen the capacity of families and communities in Kamengo to provide care, psychosocial support, and education on HIV/AIDS information and services to community.

Phoenix provided funds to put a floor in the school house , put in windows, buy text books,  and build a well.
